As mainstream sports such as boxing become less popular, bare knuckle fighting sports such as mixed martial arts have become all the rage. Perhaps it’s the ferocity involved and the fact that it takes a tremendous amount of guts and preparation to even step into a ring for a UFC fight. The gentlemen who do, are considered men’s men. Everyone respects toughness, especially other guys. If you are a MMA fan and you follow the UFC, you are probably pretty excited about the upcoming UFC 119 Championships. The UFC 119:Mir vs. Cro Cop will take place at the Conseco Fieldhouse on September 25th in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 119 event will mark the first time that an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) match has been held in the state of Indiana. Some of the preliminary matches will be televised on Spike TV.
Originally on the ticket was Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira who was to battle Frank Mir. However, Nogueira was forced to drop out of the fight because he sustained a hip injury seriousness enough that it required surgery. Mirko Filipovic has replaced Nogueria in the bout. However, for those looking to wager on the fight, keep in mind that Mirko has stated that he doesn’t believe that he will be at full strength because he hasn’t had adequate amount of time to prepare. Joining the ticket late meant that he did not have as much time as the others, namely his opponent, to get ready and focused on such a major fight. You shouldn’t count him out of course, just something to consider.
Also, originally on the card was Aaron Riley who was supposed to fight Pat Audinwood, a newcomer to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Riley, however, was forced to pull out, also due to injury. Thiago Tavares will replace him.
